Stephen Gatelys partner doesnt want a penny of singers 10m fortune
Andrew Cowles, the civil spouse of Stephen Gately, wants none of the late singer’s £10m fortune.
Cowles has already spoken with lawyers to have the large share of Gately’s estate, which he is entitled to, signed over to the pop star’s family and favourite charities.
Cowles, 32, said, “I don’t want a penny. I want his family and his favourite charities to get the money.”
The Boyzone singer, 33, died suddenly while on holiday with Cowles, in Majorca. Cowles, a successful internet tycoon, plans to sell the Majorca apartment and continue to live in the £745,000, four-bedroom North London home they shared, which Gately bought in 2003.
Dublin-born Gately’s mother, Margaret, father Martin, sister Michelle and brothers Mark, Alan and Tony stand to benefit from the estate.
A friend of Cowles said: “He [Andrew] feels [the family was] a huge support to Stephen throughout his life and that is what he would have wanted. He wants some good to come out of his death and for charities and his family to be recognised.”
