Due to financial difficulties, the EMI record label may be sold to Warner Music Group within the year. Analyst Michael Nathanson was asked about the possible scenarios for the company and said “I would auction off the music publishing business and dump the recorded music business to Warner.” According to another analyst at Standard & Poor’s Equity Research, Tuba Amobi, a deal is a possibility because the parent company of EMI, Terra Firma, is apparently in much more dire situations than it has been in the past. I had no idea that it was this bad! This could very well be the reason for that rumor that Abbey Road was for sale.
It is not however about her own sexuality, but about that of a certain someone Pixie Lott used to go out with at some point whom she now thinks might be gay. This is what Pixie Lott related on the matter: “There was this one boy who I went out with for, like, a month. To be honest, most of the boys at Italia Conti were gay. I think that boy I went out with is actually gay now!” Well if he is now and wasn’t back then, Pixie Lott might want to wonder why that is. Could having dated her have changed the man so much? It must’ve been one hell of an experience.
If you thought that being the icon that she is that Barbra Streisand will be moving through her everyday life in the lap of luxury, think again. The singer recently had an interview with Parade magazine where she said “I always wear the same thing at home. I can’t be bothered with jewelry. My pants have elastic waists. I like to be comfortable. There are so many more important things to worry about.” I bet you wouldn’t hear Mariah Carey saying that. The singer would probably say that heels are an everyday requirement for her to be comfortable and that the world revolves around her.
Kerry Katona had to be taped into a dress for a photoshoot after she couldn’t do the zip up.
The floorlength evening gown featured four unsightly strips of grey duct tape holding it together at the back.
The footage follows rumours that Katona has ballooned to a size 16 and is going to an exercise camp in an attempt to get her size eight figure back.
Speaking openly about her life on MTV’s Kerry Katona: What’s The Problem, the 28-year-old said her past, including threats to divorce husband Mark Croft, will never be forgotten because of who she is.
She said: “I can’t be a***d answering questions about why we were going for a divorce. I just want to forget it all. I just want to forget that week, put it in a box, tie it up, send it away and start afresh but I’m Kerry Katona, that doesn’t happen. I don’t want to be Kerry Katona anymore, I’m changing my name.”
The Black Eyed Peas have come out with a new music video for ‘Boom Boom Pow’. The song is the lead single off of their upcoming album ‘The END’. We’ve been speculating that this might be their last album given its title but will.i.am has gone on the record saying that it stands for ‘The Energy Never Dies’. He explained “It’s a diary … of music that at any given time, depending on the inspiration, you can add to it. I’m trying to break away from the concept of an album. What is an album when you put 12 songs on iTunes and people can pick at it like scabs? That’s not an album. There is no album anymore.”
Pop star Avril Lavigne is all set to enter the cosmetics business with the launch of her first fragrance. The singer recently signed a deal with beauty products company Procter & Gamble that will see a slew of new toiletries line ranging from perfumes, oil, bath soap, men’s aftershave, body lotion and shower gel.
In line with that major deal Lavigne announced the launch of her first fragrance named Black Star. Posting her thoughts on her official website Avril says, “I’m traveling to London next week where I’m about to announce my latest project… my very first fragrance! I’m really excited and can’t wait to share it with you. It has been a pretty cool experience. It’s so me in a bottle. I love the packaging. The name is Black Star!”
I think she entering the business a bit too late with other celebrities already having a number of such product already in the market place many of which are really popular. It also means that she is seeing the nearing of the end of her career and therefore is now into toilet accessories to keep spinning the money.
The odds of a possible Blink 182 reunion tour are diminishing. This past November, Mark Hoppus said that the 3 of them, Travis Barker and Tom DeLonge, have started to reconnect. However, in a new interview, Mark reveals plans to release his own solo album. That means he’s also ditching that band he made with Travis after Blink, +44. He said “Since late August of last year, I’ve been in the studio every week writing songs with the intention of putting out a record of my own. As of this week, I’ve got about 10 songs in various stages of completion and another 10 ideas that I still want to work on. … By the way, this interview will be the first time many people at the label are going to hear about the possibility of me doing an album on my own.” He also said that Travis supports him completely as the drummer actually plays on most of his tracks.
Britney Spears is indeed back with a vengeance as she strutted her stuff in front of an estimated 13 million viewers of X Factor in the United Kingdom. Britney was in the middle of a tour but she just could not resist dropping by the talent show to wow them all.
The 27-year old Britney’s fishnet tights and pants showed off her new figure while her rendition of her single Womanizer showed everyone why she was recently chosen as the Top International Pop Star by Bambi Awards. No less than American Idol judge Simon Cowell gave Britney a standing ovation.
Despite her amazing performance there were criticisms about her lip-synching the song when she could have sang them live. Britney also failed to meet the talent show participants for their mentoring session but this did not erase the admiration of the X-Factor wannabes for the pop star who called her “hot!”.
Her attitude also became an issue after she reportedly demanded 45 minders and three dressing rooms for her X-Factor appearance. She exceeded Mariah Carey’s request for two dressing rooms when she recently appeared in the show.
The singer recently revealed to the press that she’s feeling old lately: “I feel like an old person now. I do! I go to bed at, like, 9:30 every night, and I don’t go out or anything.” Also she talks about her recent unsuccessful dates: “One of the dates I had recently, I was accompanied by my assistant Brett and my manager Larry Rudolph’s friend Adam Leber. Right when we got there, we just knew it was just bad.” Apparently this happens because Britney’s dad still controls much of her life. To me, this all looks like birthday jitters or something of the sort. How can you feel old if you just go to bet at 9:30… you feel old when you feel like the weight of the world is crashing on your shoulders and you’ve got nothing more to look forward to. Or is that how Britney actually feels but she’s not telling? Bet you she’s not going to feel this way on her birthday when she releases the new album… she might not even got to sleep at 9:30 then either.
Boyzone recently got into a brawl with Rihanna’s band in a bar after one of the guys from Boyzone tried to “be friendly” with the girlfriend of a member of Rihanna’s band. No more sparks were necessary as the epic battle had already begun. A source stated: “The boys held their own despite being unsteady on their feet.” However, before the show could go on, security broke it all up. Stephen Gately had this to say: “We are keeping up that fine image of the Irish and too much alcohol.” Great going, Steve… I’m sure that’s the image that every decent Irishman is trying to let out, you most certainly did your country proud…
Things in the marriage of Avril Lavigne and Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley seem to be on the rocks. While Avril’s been going crazy on her tour, Deryck’s been at home, causing the couple to live separate lives. According to the National Enquirer Deryck was recently spotted cozying up to a tall brunette beauty at Villa night club. It was the very same night that Avril was on the other side of the world, performing concert in China. Considering that Deryck is now washed up and that Avril’s the only one bringing in some money, he may want to think twice about getting a divorce.
Rihanna was seen shopping up a storm with fashion designer twins Dean and Dan Caten of Dsquared2 in Milan on Tuesday morning. The day before that, the Barbadian singing sensation was also spotted shopping in a pretty yellow dress with her best friend Melissa and backup singers Ashleigh and Erica. Maybe she was looking for new styles to try on. Speaking of style, Rihanna has signed up to be the face of Gucci’s upcoming ‘Tattoo Heart’ campaign for children’s charity UNICEF. Her ad campaign, which will launch in December, will feature herself sporting a line of limited-edition Gucci products. She’s stylish and she has a good heart!
Just when you thought the Amy Winehouse theme for the next James Bond movie was a dead issue, the singer has announced she is back working on the project.
Winehouse told the press last week that she and producer Mark Ronson were getting their plans back on track to record the theme for ‘Quantum of Solace’. Amy says she has written the song and recorded an acoustic demo. It is up to Ronson to ‘Bondify’ the recording.
The whole thing fell in a heap a few months back when Amy reached a low in her life with drugs and jails. She is in a good place mentally at the moment and this may just be the window of opportunity Ronson needs to get the project completed.
It is also rumoured that Beyonce is having a crack at the theme.

And here I thought she was getting better. Amy Winehouse is continuing down the path of self-destruction. The British pop wreck was seen walking around London on Monday with some fresh wounds on her arm. The ‘Rehab’ singer has spoken openly about her self-harming in the past. This just screams out for serious psychological help in addition to treatment for her hardcore drug addiction. What is it going to take before her parents or anyone else just forces her to get help? At the rate she’s going, we might lose our beloved Wino before she even turns 30 years old.
It’s hard to believe that with all the ego he has, someone still doesn’t know who John Mayer is. But it seems that a couple of folks over at the Beverly Hills times aren’t too familiar with the singing douche bag. John shared the local monthly’s cover last month. That’s all good and all except for one teeny problem – his photo was captioned ‘Josh Mayer’. Mr. Mayer has had a hit or two, dated some of Hollywood’s hottest females and most recently rocked a Borat-inspired bathing thong. The guy is kind of a big deal. And I’m not joshing on that one.
John Mayer may be a douche bag but I’m not going to deny that the musician has a great sense of humor. The singer/songwriter slipped into a neon green thong when he was aboard the ‘Mayercraft’ cruise which went to the Bahamas this past weekend. I’m pretty sure that fans aboard the cruise think that they got their money’s worth.
If you don’t know where John got the idea for this, Borat AKA Sacha Baron Cohen wore the same green thong two years ago on the beach at The Cannes Film Festival. Who do you think rocked the thong better?
To tell you honestly, I’m over celebrities, more specifically musicians, coming out with fragrances. Most of those fragrances don’t even smell that good or are imitations of really great ones. But it’s a booming business. The latest celebrity to jump into the fragrance business is Avril Lavigne. Now why would you want to smell like Canada’s most hated?
It seems that the singer has started taking the steps in releasing her own fragrance. Sources say that she filed an application with the US patent and trademark office last month for “G & S: Fragrances and perfumery; after shave; pre-shave; bath oil; bath soap; shower gel; body shampoo; deodorant for personal use; tissues impregnated with cosmetic lotions; bath crystals; bath milks; dusting powder; body lotion; body splash; body cream; hand lotion; and talc”.
As if we didn’t see her as a fantastic idol for all those who suffer breast cancer to look at and think, “if she got through it I can”, Kylie Minogue settles the feeling that she is a true heroine.
After being diagnosed with brest cancer in 2005 Kylie battled through it and is now in remission. But even at her lowest moments the pop idol never considered quitting. The 39 year old said she always knew she would be a pop star regardless of what was happening.
Kylie, whose music career has spanned over 20 years, said: “You do tend to hear more about people who have said, ‘that’s it. I’m going to go in a completely different direction.’ And I think I would have had a valid excuse. But that’s not me. I’m not finished. I get joy out of what I do. I’m ready to go on.”
The mini pop princess has also confessed she hates talking about her cancer battle and tries not to think about it if she can. Who can blame her?
The ‘2 Hearts’ singer, who underwent months of gruelling chemotherapy treatment, said: “I don’t have a nice little phrase to summarise what that meant, or what it did, or how I’ve changed. I don’t like to talk about it too much. I’m sure the day will come where I will be more forward about it.”

The mourning is over for ‘Smile’ singer Lily Allen as she was spotted having dinner with friends at The Ivy on Wednesday night. She was then spotted going out for a good time to the Groucho Club in SoHo. Well that didn’t last long, did it? Lily just suffered a miscarriage a couple of weeks ago and now she’s already back to her partying ways. I guess there’s no attachment there since she wasn’t really that far along. Whatever the case may be, I guess she’s already dealt with it. I’m still not quite sure whether to say that it’s good for her or something.
