Canadian actor Alan Thicke has said he is a big fan of his singer-son Robin’s music.

The 63-year-old star said he is one of his son Robin Thicke’s biggest fans but added that he didn’t get his musical talent from him.

He said to the Today show: “I couldn’t teach him about music, so I encouraged his hobbies.

“I’m a TV dad. I thought it was Sax Therapy and I thought this was duets with Kenny G, but no, everybody’s naked in the video.”

He added: “Robin Thicke is a great artist. Ordinarily when you’re getting your cuddle on, you wouldn’t want to hear your son’s voice.

“That’s usually the enemy of love. But in this case, it is romantic. It’s not like he’s singing: ‘Go, daddy, go!’ It’s a mood setter.”

Smashing Pumpkins lead singer Billy Corgan has some fighting words for John Mayer. Billy was asked to comment on the soft rock artist and his most recent bout of verbal diarrhea. Billy said “He’s trying to destroy his career. Rather than take a year off or change his musical direction, some part of it is irritating his soul to the point where he’s trying to blow it up. Certainly a talented guy, but empathetically, standing on the sidelines, it’s hard to watch someone literally burn their career to the ground speaking as somebody who’s done it…I think for any person who has celebrity to sort of drop rocks at somebody else’s feet like that, there’s things you should really just keep your mouths shut on. There’s things that should just be left alone.”

Shock-jock Howard Stern’s wife has admitted the star is already practising for the possibility of landing Simon Cowell’s role on American Idol.

The controversial DJ is hotly tipped to be the favourite to replace Cowell as the sharp-tongued judge the talent show needs.

And Stern’s wife Beth Ostrosky admitted that her husband is already practising – in front of the TV.

“I am so fortunate that I get to sit next to Howard when he critiques Idol at home,” Ostrosky said in a clear pitch for her husband to get the job offer.

“Not only is it hysterical, he’s so honest. I think he would be great.”

Asked if official talks were under way, Beth said, “He’s having fun with the idea. I don’t know, you’ll have to ask him.”

A source close to Idol said: “Producers are focused on the show right now, and no decision on a replacement will be announced soon. Howard is making a good case for himself as a judge.”

American Idol makers Fox declined to comment.

It seems that VH1 is really running out of things to put on the air. After Celebrity Fit Club, it looks like the network has decided to have a show with Brandy and Ray J which will have the amazingly original title: “Brandy and Ray J: A Family Business”. The show will also feature Brandy and Ray J’s parents and will center around their record producing since all of them are so good at it. If they don’t get the ratings they hope for, they can always buy a puppy and make it the business mascot… that might enlarge the number of people that want to see Brandy and Ray J on their own show.

X Factor boss Simon Cowell has been voted the top TV talent in Britain.

The 50-year-old music mogul is a judge on ITV show X Factor as well as American Idol and Britain’s Got Talent, which all try to find the next big talent.

He was voted as the top TV talent in the UK by a survey carried out by Broadcast magazine.

In second place was the actress Maxine Peake and actor Russell Tovey was in third place and TV duo Ant and Dec came fourth.

Cowell was also named in the survey as one of the most important TV industry leaders.

Lisa Campbell, Broadcast’s editor, said: “In an industry of giants, Cowell is surely the number one.

“Cowell is reinventing what it means to create television and make money from it.”

Bill shows off his vocal recording room and discusses his extremely loud recording technique. “Most people use regular ‘headphone volume,’ but I can’t stand it. I need to feel like I’m onstage and I’m standing beside the other guys,” says the front man. The high-tech vocal mixer used on the tracks is what brought the band to Los Angeles to record. The clip also shows guitarist Tom Kaulitz playing the piano – a skill that most fans didn’t know he had. Brit judge Piers Morgan blasted host Nick Cannon on America’s Got Talent, telling him “You’re the mean one!” after he tricked girl group The EriAm Sisters into thinking they had been voted off the show.

Piers was – almost – speechless after Nick told the girls that they hadn’t made it through to the semis on NBC’s Tuesday night show, then told they had – causing them all to burst into tears.

Afterwards, Nick laughed as he told the girls: “Gotcha!”

Piers then said: “That’s a mean trick you just played, Nick Cannon.

“You’re meaner than me and you call me the bad one. My God!”

David Hasselhoff was thrilled the girls got through with fellow singer Drew Stevyns.

The Hoff stood up and shouted at Nick: “You’re the man!”

Nick tried to defend himself saying: “I’m just doing what it says on the cards.”

A San Francisco man is throwing his name into the circus known as Michael Jackson’s life, as he claims to be the late singer’s 24-year old son. According to a creditor’s claim filed in LA last week, a guy named Prince Michael Malachi Jet Jackson is requesting a DNA test to prove that he is the son of the King of Pop. According to the claim, Michael’s family pressured Prince Michael Malachi’s family to keep quiet. A birth certificate was submitted with the claim which lists Michael Joseph Jackson of Indiana as the father and Zerline LaVette Dixon as the mother.

Simon Cowell has been called a “horrible cheat” by his ex-girlfriend Sinitta.

The 49-year-old X Factor boss met Sinitta, 40, when she was just 14 years old, and he was her producer and chaperone at first.

Sinitta said: “I had a huge crush on him, but he actually liked a friend of mine who was triple-timing him.

“One day, he just said: ‘You know what I don’t really like her. It’s you I like.’

“You know when you don’t kind of believe it, because we were such buddies? But it was fantastic, because I thought he was really cute.”

The couple ended up dating on and off for 16 years and the pair are still close friends now.

Sinitta said: “On and off, because Simon was a horrible cheat! He was a horrible cheat. He was always disappearing and stuff, you know, and I’d have to work and he’d almost be laughing as he waved me off on a plane to Japan, like: ‘Great, I’m going to have a really good time while you’re away.’”

Kate Moss has reportedly got six £500 VIP tickets for Glastonbury and a buggy to drive around the festival.

It is claimed that Moss, 35, will be staying away from her ex-boyfriend Pete Doherty, 30, while at the event.

A source said: “Kate’s a rock goddess and plans to have a wild time – she doesn’t do things by half. She’s on Lily Allen’s VIP list so it’s free drinks all the way. But her ex Pete Doherty is on the bill – if she sees him, she’ll steer well clear.”

Many celebrities have offered their support to the No H8 campaign and Aubrey O’Day is one of them. However, sources say that the former Danity Kane member was anything but gracious or humble during the photo shoot. The non-profit organization tries to accommodate its celebrity supporters to the best of their ability but that apparently wasn’t good enough for her. She demanded that she bring her own hair and make up team and that they be paid for. She also insisted on a car service, claiming she had knee surgery and couldn’t drive. To everyone’s surprise, Aubrey was able to walk and jump and whatever else in high heeled boots. Can you say diva bitch?

The singer and his wife Katie Lee Joel have apparently decided to go their separate ways recently. Still, it seems it was a decent break-up, with no hard feelings… or so Billy Joel’s spokeswoman said: “After nearly five years of marriage, Billy and Katie have decided to separate. The decision is the result of much thought and consideration. Billy and Katie remain caring friends, with admiration and respect for each other.” Right, that sounds like they had one hell of a fight but decided to keep it private… either that or the age difference kicked in and Billy Joel just acted his own age, but I’d go for the first if I had to wager.

Country music star Shania Twain says she’s starting to “feel like a woman” again a year after her high-profile marriage break-up.

In an emotional letter to fans on her official website, the singer says writing new music has been like therapy through the traumatic time.

Twain, 43, and Robert “Mutt” Lange separated in May 2008 following news of his affair with Marie-Anne Thiebaud, Twain’s longtime friend and secretary.

The singer, who has a seven-year-old son, Eja, wrote: “I’m enjoying my child, friends and family like I haven’t in years, and it’s great. I’ve been experiencing and seeing new things every day, living life with a different and more optimistic attitude.

“I’ve been inspired by my pain to write and use writing as a therapy through the suffering. I truly wouldn’t wish this on anybody as a means to get inspired, but it’s been a productive period with so much emotion trying to find it’s way out.”

Gossip star Beth Ditto said fat people should stay away from drugs as it is more harmful to their health.

Ditto, 28, said she never gets nasty comments about her larger figure and admitted she steers clear of drugs.

She said: “Nobody ever talks about fat in front of me at fashion stuff. It’s the same way I never see people do drugs when I’m on tour. People know for the most part that I don’t do it, so they keep it away from me.

“I did ecstasy once – and it ruled – but fat people shouldn’t do drugs. Fat people should certainly not do cocaine. It’s not that they’re all unhealthy, but it can be hard on your body, on your heart, so you have to accept you can’t do certain things. I don’t want to die when I’m 38. It’s not worth it.”

Ditto is currently helping to design her own range of clothes for British plus-size women’s clothing chain Evans.

The diva is officially back as a date has been announced for the release of Whitney Houston’s much anticipated seventh album. The iconic singer’s label recently announced that her album is set to drop on September 1st. September can’t come soon enough! With the album coming out in the early fall, we should all be expecting a single by July or August at the very latest. I’m excited. I wonder if she’s going to still have the same sound or if she’s gotten in with the times and got a bit more flavor to her music. I’m so excited to hear from her.
