Sting VS Simon Cowell

Last November, it was reported that Sting had lashed out at Simon Cowell and his shows American Idol and X Factor, calling them televised karaoke and preposterous. The famed judge and music mogul must have let those comments sit for a while because he just bit back at the singer. Simon said “First of all, anybody who at the age of 60 calls himself Sting is an idiot. I find those kind of people… who come from quite humble beginnings and they’re (now) living in these stately homes, professing to know everything about everything in the world, and what the contestants may or may not feel… They can say that because they’ve got everything they want in their lives, but what they’re really saying is anybody else who needs a shot shouldn’t be allowed to do it.” I’m on Team Simon on this one. If the shows are just what Sting calls they are, we wouldn’t have the likes of Carrie Underwood and Leona Lewis around.

Carrie Underwood not going to Canada

Looks like somebody changed her mind really quick… must’ve been the weather, winter is not a good time to be going up north. It seems Carrie Underwood took the time to subtly rephrase the idea of her moving to Canada with her boyfriend, Mike Fisher. Here’s what Carrie Underwood said: “Call me old fashion, but the next guy I move in with will be my hubby. Who ever that is. I’m not saying it’s going to be him.” That must’ve broken Mike Fisher’s poor little heart… and it probably even hurt more than the teeth incidents he might have lived through as a hockey player. But still there is hope… come spring, Carrie Underwood may yet again have a sudden change of heart.

Best Female Country Vocal Performance goes to Carrie Underwood

Country Superstar Carrie Underwood is already amongst the most celebrated young country singers and she has added another feather to her growing list of laurels. Looking as lovely as always as she attended the Grammy Awards gala event held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 8.

With the first couple of rounds of the awards being announced Carrie took home the award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance for her hit number “Last Name.” That’s not all she is in line to win another Grammy. She has been nominated for the Best Song in a Motion Picture for the song “Ever Ever After” a song that features in the movie Enchanted.

She is certainly a tremendous singer and she will only grow better with time, but the thing that impresses me the most is she’s been able to keep a good distance from alcoholism and drugs and that’s basically the difference between her and Amy Winehouse.

Carrie deserves the success because she wants it, Amy too has had her share of success but she’s throwing it all away. Greats become great because they have single minded focus they rest are mere passengers.

Carrie Duets with Elvis

Carrie Underwood is one of the artists featured on the Elvis Presley Christmas Duets CD. American Idol champion and the King of Rock n Roll sing ‘I’ll Be Home for Christmas’ together. Carrie said “Priscilla actually asked if I would be part of the project, so when Priscilla Presley asks you to sing with Elvis, you do it.” It’s an honor to be able to sing with Elvis so I doubt anyone would turn that offer down. LeAnn Rimes is also on the CD singing ‘Here Comes Santa Claus’. Martina McBride sings ‘Blue Christmas’ and Olivia Newton-John sings ‘O Come All Ye Faithful’.

Carrie Underwood is a Winner at the CMA Awards

Well what else could one ask for, its really one of the best times in that career of singer Carrie Underwood who for the 3rd successive time won the Vocalist of the Year Award at the Country Music Association Awards held at the Sommet Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

And Carrie had lots more to do apart collecting the Female Vocalist of the Year Award, she played her part as the hostess superbly and also performed live.

Brad Paisley took home the Male Vocalist of the Year Award, Sugarland bagged the Vocal Duo of the Year Award while George Strait won the Artist of the Year & his album Troubadour was named the Album of the Year.

We are sure that Carrie would have celebrated all through the night on achieving a treble. She thoroughly deserves all of the adulation and recognition and tell you why I have such good things to say about her that is because like the rest of the music superstars she has managed to keep herself away from all those common celebrity goof ups that would are usually associated with such immense success. At least she’s managing to keep away from all of that till now.

Jessica Simpson Talks Carrie Underwood and Tony Romo

Carrie Underwood recently gave an interview claiming that her ex Tony Romo still calls her. Well, the other hot blonde fighting over the NFL cutie just turned up the heat by calling the American Idol alum a boldfaced liar on live radio. Jessica Simpson recently went on ‘Woody and Jim’ on 107.5 in Nashville saying that she and Tony laughed at Carrie’s published claims adding that everything Carrie insinuated is completely false. Jess even went on to spell it right out for Carrie saying “If Tony wanted to call her … or wanted to be with her, he would.” Ouch!

Carrie Underwood is Uncouth

American Idol champion Carrie Underwood is featured on the cover of the July 2008 issue of Cosmopolitan. While we all see the very cute and lovable side of the singer, she reveals that she can be very much unladylike. Carrie says “I don’t consider myself sexy…I’m kind of a nervous person in general. I’m socially awkward. I’m not tall and sensuous. I usually wear sweats everywhere I go. Oh, and I burp a lot.” She also talked about “love mistakes she’ll never repeat” saying “Cheating is a deal breaker — If you cheat, you’re gone.” I think it’s an unnamed hit on Chace Crawford.

K.T. Tunstall Lashes Out At Carrie Underwood

K.T. Tunstall Lashes Out At Carrie Underwood

Scottish star K.T. Tunstall has lashed out at award-winning country singer Carrie Underwood – for winning a Grammy award. The American Idol winner took home a Grammy for best new artist in February– but Tunstall is unimpressed by her fast-track to fame. Guess she should also be upset with her fans (is she has any)I’m sure they are singing her songs. How dare anyone sing another persons song (note the sarcasm). I don’t believe it was even Carrie who sang her song. Dolly Parton was very pleased when Whitney sang “I will always love you.” She needs to grow up and get over herself! Actually, K.T. gave her permission for AI to use her song, and for Katharine to sing it. She’s thanked Katharine publicly, because that performance caused her version of the song to jump on the Billboard charts. Her problem is with the show itself, and now, apparently, with Carrie. I guess K.T. can be a little opinionated—–

Carrie Underwood is still generating hits

carrie underwood.jpg

Carrie Underwood is still generating hits from her six-million-selling debut, “Some Hearts,” but she’s front and center with a new effort this week. Her sophomore album, “Carnival Ride” (19 Recordings/Arista Nashville) is led by the single “So Small,” which made Underwood the first female to debut in the Hot Country Songs top 20 in 43 years. The pressure to follow up such as successful debut could creatively paralyze an artist, but Underwood has worked her way through it. “‘Is there really anywhere to go but down?’ There was that fear in my head,’” says Underwood, who was much more involved in the songwriting process this time around. “Then we started picking songs and I realized it was more [about] making an album for myself that I love and I know I have a huge hand in making. Whatever happens, it’s icing on the cake.”

Besides “So Small,” new tracks include “Last Name,” “Just a Dream” (about a soldier dying and the emotions his fiancé experiences as she comes to terms with the tragedy) and a remake of Randy Travis’ “I Told You So.”

Carrie Keeps it Private

carrie-underwood.jpg

American Idol Season 5 winner Carrie Underwood is already a bona fide star and can already drop the American Idol title from in front of her name. She’s all smiles when cameras are in front of her, but in a recent interview, it’s obvious that there are some things she still wants to keep private. She does her best to maintain a low-profile personal life but it still gets out.

However, when those relationships end, she’s not one to spill either. That much was made obvious when asked about her blossoming romance with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. She says they are like best friends and even adds “It took a little while to get to this point. It seemed like maybe for a bit we were headed there. We never got there.”

Where exactly is there?

It’s Carrie’s World

blog1-carrie-underwood.jpg

just debuted her first video for the first single off of her sophomore album ‘Carnival Ride’. The video for ‘So Small’ is an emotionally-charged one which could pretty well be the platform for the release of her album on October 23. And hear you me, it is going to be a massively huge release.Country Music Television actually played the American Idol alum’s video for six straight hours, from 6 in the morning to 12 noon ET/PT. The event was dubbed as ‘Carrie Music Television’. The video would have then aired at an estimated 66 times. Wow! That’s more than Britney’s airplay these days.
