Marriage equality is a big topic in the world right now and singer Tori Amos is one of the most recently celebrities to speak out in defense of it. In a recent interview with British gay magazine Attitude, Tori shared her views on California’s decision to vote yes on Proposition 8. She said “Well, we go back to this concept of emancipation. The idea of ‘We will overcome’ from the great Dr. Martin Luther King, was made flesh as Obama was put into the office and yet at the same time another group of people were subjugated by some of those voters. A lot of people were saying, ‘Well you have to understand that a lot of the voters are Democratic and Christians, the ones that had an issue with rights for the gay community’. And I would say how, in any way, is that the Christian path?”
Everybody is talking about Jessica Simpson and her current body issues. The 28-year old wannabe country singer continues to get massive attention for her fuller figure which was noted last week when she sang at the Chili Cookoff in Florida. The issue has gotten so big that even President Obama is talking about it. The Today Show’s Matt Lauer spoke to the president in a pre-Super Bowl interview and mentioned how the first family was removed from the US Weekly’s cover shoot to make room for the hot news of Jessica’s weight. Obama coyly responded with “Yeah, it’s a little hurtful!” He then looked at the cover and said [that Jessica is] “in a weight battle, apparently. Yeah. Oh well.”
The craze about the new president-elect has apparently sprung to new heights lately. A musical has been created in his honor entitled “Obama on my mind” and it’s written by Teddy Hayes who described it as being “a humorous romp set in an Obama campaign office, with songs that mix pop, gospel, jazz, ’some Motownish stuff’ and even tango.” Oh yeah, now it’s getting interesting. Not only is Obama becoming more of a commercial item than Lord of the Rings in the past half-decade, but now it looks as though he will soon reach god status and be praised in song and dance… and maybe a sacrificial ritual here and there, just for kicks.
The singer, actress or whatever was deeply touched when she met the newly elected president of the United States. She said: “He is the biggest star here, even though it’s chock-full of celebrities. The night he won the election, you could feel it in the air. I was watching him with tears in my eyes, thinking, ‘Yes. Something is different. Something is happening.’ We’re very excited.” Oh yes, everybody seems to be crazed out with this “something is different, something is changing” bit and Jennifer Lopez probably thinks it might do her a bit of good to get with the program. But nothing has really happened yet. How come everybody’s so crazed out about Obama? What, is there a sign from God that he may very well be the next JFK?
Latina magazine reports that Shakira will be performing at the Obama inauguration in January!

The Obama camp won’t confirm or deny the report. I’d like to say, I believe them!

Plus, as perezhilton reports it, when Shakira endorsed the president-elect back in October, Barry said that, “It’s an honor for me to receive support from someone with so much talent, from an artist who has been so generous.”

Beyonce Knowles rocked the World Music Awards night held in Monte Carlo. She performed “Single ladies Put a Ring On It”. The awards night took place on Sunday November 9th and Knowles was amongst the top performers who included the likes of Kid Rock, Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys and many others.
Really she is a super performer and there is news that she has announced that is willing to perform on the day when US President Elect Barack Obama officially takes over as the President of the Untied States of America.
Amongst the winners, Alicia Keys received the award for the world’s best R&B singer, while Lil Wayne was named world’s top hip-hop/rap artist.
