Sir Paul McCartney has shunned expensive hotels in favor of camping. The 66-year-old musician is currently on a US road trip with girlfriend Nancy Shevell, and the pair decided to spend a night under the stars when they arrived at Bennett Springs State Park in Missouri last weekend.
A fellow camper said: “It was incredible to see one of the world’s richest musicians going back to basics. They didn’t seem to have a care in the world as they laughed and joked with each other.”
After spending the night in their tent, the couple further amazed onlookers when they set off on a hike in stifling heat.
A source explained to Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper: “It was nearly 30 degrees but the heat didn’t slow them down at all. They were like two teenagers on a first date – it was really sweet. They were seen tucking into sandwiches. Paul even had a cheeky bottle of stout which he had packed away.”

Alanis Morissette overcame “love addiction” after splitting from ex Ryan Reynolds – by having loads of no-strings sex.
Isn’t it ironic… don’t you think?
The singer was determined to beat her lifelong habit of turning dates into relationships after her engagement to Ryan came to a traumatic end in 2006.
And she achieved this by throwing herself into a lifestyle of meaningless sex and throwaway dates.
She said: “No-strings relationships have helped cure me of love addiction. All my life I’ve been in long-term monogamous relationships. I had to break that pattern by not allowing myself to have a relationship for a year, stopping myself from committing to men. I haven’t been celibate. I’ve had lots of dates and lots of sex, but I haven’t been pushing to turn a date into a relationship. This has been a huge thing for me.”

Alanis Morissete wants to adopt. The 34-year-old singer says she wants to have a family before she is 40 and admits she would consider adoption.
She said: “I would definitely consider adoption, no question about it. Not today, but at some point in the future. Ideally, I’d like to be married and starting a family before I’m 40, even though I don’t believe in the concept of marriage in the conventional sense. But there is definitely virtue in committing to something and following it through.”
The ‘Ironic’ hitmaker also revealed she is dating a lawyer – but refuses to name him.
She added: “My boyfriend since last summer is a lawyer. I’ve done the high-profile relationship thing and I’m a little shy of that now. I don’t want to say who he is yet just for his sake – the poor guy’s life is going to turn around – so we want to drag it out while we are still getting to know each other.”
Alanis split with fiancé Ryan Reynolds last February after two-and-a-half years together.
