Elton John set to leave hospital after gut infection
Admitted to hospital for a serious gut infection, Sir Elton John, 62, has reassured fans he is fine. John is expected to leave the exclusive King Edward VII facility in London today after being treated for an E coli infection and influenza. “Don’t worry, I’m fine,” he told fans from his hospital bed. John’s civil spouse, David Furnish, 47, emerged from the hospital at the weekend to say, “He’s OK. He’s fine.” John cancelled dates with Billy Joel in the US this month. He pulled out of four dates in England and one in Ireland last week. A spokesman for John said: “He is recovering from a case of serious influenza with minor complications. We are confident he will be back on stage in the near future.” He has announced plans for more shows in South Africa next year and has reportedly vowed to reschedule his UK dates.
