Madonna responds to call of duty
Madonna has not allowed her frustration from the negative result of her adoption application in Malawi to stop her humanitarian advocacy. Madonna was the very first celebrity to come to the aid of the victims of the 6.3-magnitude earthquake that rocked Italy’s Abruzzo’s region recently. The Hamlet of Pacentro Mayor asked the world for help and thanks to twitter, Madonna has responded immediately. This was confirmed by Guy Oseary, Madonna’s manager who also responded via twitter.
Madonna’s paternal grandparents were said to have been residents of Pacentro up to 1919. The amount of the pop superstar’s financial aid was not disclosed but it is estimated to be a substantial donation of around $500,000. Madonna said she is happy to lend a helping hand to the place where her ancestors used to call home. The earthquake has injured hundreds and has killed 260.
