Britney Spears shows proof that she is still the pop star to beat with her stellar performance at the Bambi Awards. This is the time first time Britney has performed live since 2007 and she has proven why she deserves the Best International Pop Star award which she received during the said ceremony in Germany. Popular designer Karl Lagerfield presented the ward to Britney Spears.
Her fishnet tights, shorts and a tophat showed her new slim body but her attire was almost identical with the all-black ensemble worn by Madonna during her recent Sticky & Sweet tour except perhaps for the hat since Madonna’s was silver-white while Britney’s was black. Britney preformed a short number with Madonna during the tour where she was dressed in a modest white blouse and loose pants.
This is also the first time that Britney Spears has acknowledged her mis-encounters in the past year and admitted she herself was wondering how she could have done things like that when she considered herself a smart person. Last year was drama-filled for Britney after her controversial child custody battle versus her ex husband Kevin Federline and her hospital commitment. This is another positive sign that the 26-year old pop star is back, hopefully for good.
The famous rapper actually went through with his plans and went to the south of France to shoot an audition tape for the next James Bond movie. The total costs for the tape went up to 767000 dollars and it is posted on Youtube. He had this to say: “I would like to also announce that this is my audition tape for the next James Bond. I feel like I am best suited to be the next James Bond. I’ve been out there getting my hustle on in Hollywood – I just landed a role on ‘CSI: Miami.’ We have a black president and it’s time for there to be a black Bond.” I had hoped that no one would take him seriously… maybe it is not too late for hope anyway. But if this does indeed happen, we may see all of our favorite classic characters be “updated”, just because nobody can come up with any better ideas nowadays.
At 42 Janet Jackson has been told by her fiance Jermaine Dupri that now is the right time to conceive. Jermaine Dupri is 36 and thinks time is running out for Janet to have her own babies. Jermaine wants to get married sooner than later and have children before it’s too late.
Janet’s tour was a moderate success and Jermaine has told her that music and performances will always be there for the taking but there are other things important for them in life at this point in time which needs their urgent attention.
Janet probably is so ashamed of herself for that breast popping out incident that she feels that her children would someday surely get to know about what happened and her won’t be able to explain that publicity stunt to them so it would be a good way to avoid that ever taking place.
Taylor Swift can now stop having to make digs about ex-boyfriends just so she could get some attention as she has just beaten Joe Jonas’ butt by topping the US Billboard charts with her second album ‘Fearless’ which sold over 592,000 copies in its debut week. That means that Taylor has one of the biggest opening week sales in 2008 by a female artist. She’s also the fourth biggest overall coming behind Lil Wayne, AC/DC and Coldplay. Taylor also managed to beat the Jonas Brothers on the charts as their latest album sold about 525,000 on its first week. Taylor is getting geared up for global domination as well as her album will be released worldwide early next year.
Sources recently revealed that Mel B is getting her very own Vegas revue show. It’s like the Spice Girls clashing with Showgirls. In other words, it’s fabulous! The singer more famously known as Scary Spice has teamed up with big Broadway director and choreographer Jerry Mitchell to collaborate on the new project called ‘Peep Show’. A source close to Mel says that it’s “very sexy and very girl power!” Mel’s ‘Peep Show’ is set to open in 2009 and play at the Planet Hollywood Casino Resort. I have a feeling that this will just end up being a rip off of the Pussycat Dolls.
Selena Gomez recently made a comment about ex-boyfriends that I thought, and apparently a lot of others thought, was a dig at Taylor Swift who is the ex of Joe Jonas, the brother of Selena’s guy Nick. Selena said “I get so mad about ex-boyfriends, but if a boy hurts me, I don’t write a song about it. They don’t deserve it!” It seems that the young starlet wants to clear some things up even though it was pretty clear what she meant. Selena defends herself by saying “Most of my songs are about love, I am a 16 year old teenager and I sing about what is on every girls mind. Love. What I was implying was that the songs I sing about, the boys who have hurt me or that are no longer in my life don’t deserve a song to be written about them but, that’s impossible.”
Beyonce opened up the show by singing ‘Single Ladies’ and ‘Crazy in Love’. Carson Daly and Damien Fahey took to the stage to host a bit before a clip of Miley Cyrus was shown. Then Diddy took to the stage to talk about TRL. Ben Stiller and Christina Aguilera also had clips for TRL before they went to Fall Out Boy performing on a huge stage out in Times Square. Justin Timberlake and JC Chasez also did a mini reunion recollecting their NSYNC days. Kid Rock, TRL news correspondents, Snoop Dogg, Nelly, Ludacris, Vanessa Minnillo, Heidi Montag, Hilary Duff and many others showed up to say goodbye to the show.
The singer recently revealed to the press that she’s feeling old lately: “I feel like an old person now. I do! I go to bed at, like, 9:30 every night, and I don’t go out or anything.” Also she talks about her recent unsuccessful dates: “One of the dates I had recently, I was accompanied by my assistant Brett and my manager Larry Rudolph’s friend Adam Leber. Right when we got there, we just knew it was just bad.” Apparently this happens because Britney’s dad still controls much of her life. To me, this all looks like birthday jitters or something of the sort. How can you feel old if you just go to bet at 9:30… you feel old when you feel like the weight of the world is crashing on your shoulders and you’ve got nothing more to look forward to. Or is that how Britney actually feels but she’s not telling? Bet you she’s not going to feel this way on her birthday when she releases the new album… she might not even got to sleep at 9:30 then either.
The singer recently declared in an interview that she never went through the “boy-crazy” phase: “I never went through that completely boy crazy phase because I was always so goal orientated in what I wanted as a performer and I think knowing that was my form of independence.” There’s a boy-crazy phase? The world just keeps getting weirder and weirder. Of course, one must admire all that Christina has achieved in terms of stardom and artistic development… would’ve really been disastrous if she had actually gone through this so-called boy-crazy period. Oh well, thank God for small favors…
Meet Hana Pestle — an eighteen year old singer/songwriter that has come a long way from her hometown of Billings, Montana. Hana moved to Los Angeles about a year ago to work on her debut album with Ben Moody, co-founder of Evanescence, who has also produced records for Kelly Clarkson and Avril Lavigne. On top of the ten month recording process, Hana spent most of this year touring with an opening slot on the Blues Traveler, Live, Collective Soul Tour. She has since toured with the likes of Joshua Radin and Jon McLaughlin and is currently on the road with pop/pock band Ingram Hill.
The versatility of Hana’s vocals stands out on her current E.P with the intense single “These Two Hands” and a cover of Leonard Cohen’s classic “Hallelujah.” Hana will be able to tell more of her story on her full-length release due out next year.
Hana may be far away from home in a city she calls “much different yet wonderful,” but she explains, “I’m home wherever my guitar is.” Citing influences that range from Radiohead and Sarah McLachlan to Incubus, Feist and Jack Johnson, it is clear that Hana isn’t bound to any one genre.
House of Heroes have just premiered their version of the holiday classic “Silent Night.” The Ohio band, whose most recent album The End Is Not The End was delivered via digital stores, has seen an incredible response with the release making it to the #6 spot on the iTunes rock chart and #42 on the overall chart, with a #1 radio hit single and over 1 million plays on their MySpace page. House of Heroes’ discography includes a 2005 self-titled debut and the re-release Say No More in 2006. Prior to signing a record deal with Mono Vs Stereo/Gotee, the band released an indie project What You Want Is Now (2002) to much critical acclaim and a large grassroots following.
Check out this week’s episode of PCD TV straight from Melbourne, Australia. The Dolls, who represent and encourage female empowerment, send a very important message from their performance at a breast cancer awareness event. Watch them take the stage to help raise money for the cause and spread the message.
Check out Britney’s brand new promo pic for Circus! The album is set for release until December 2nd, but it’s available for pre-order now with an exclusive bonus track called “Trouble.” The deluxe version features 2 additional bonus tracks, the “Womanizer” video, the Making of the Circus album, and a digital booklet.
After getting all the buzz for their hush-hush marriage early this year, power couple Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z is the talk of the town once again after they topped Forbes’ list of top-earning Hollywood couples, thanks to a combined income of $110 million in 2007. The combined income of the couple is however estimated at $160 million from June 2007 to 2008.
Beyonce and Jay-Z are both popular figures in the American music industry albeit in different categories—Jay-Z reigns in the world of hip hop while Beyonce reigns in the R&B and Bootylicious category. However, there is not arguing that the couple reign supreme when it comes to high-paying endorsements.
Next in the list is power couple Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith with $57 million worth of combined earnings although majority of that came from Smith’s movie hits like Hancock, The Pursuit of Happiness and I Am Legend. Victoria and David Beckham is at number three with a combined income of $39 million.
The list also includes Nicole Kidman and country singer Keith Urban, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie as well as Eva Longoria of “Desperate Housewives” and Tony Parker.
The rapper Benji Madden, who got more fame being Paris Hilton’s boy friend than her singing, is still feeling ‘FINE’ after the split up with the sexy hotel heiress.
Benji Madden’s twin brother and Good Charlotte band mate Joel told the press, “He’s a good guy and he’ll be fine and she’ll be fine. They’ll both be fine. I don’t think at the end of the day anyone reading it was like ‘Oh my gosh! What is he gonna do?’ or ‘What is she gonna do?’ Everyone was kind of like, ‘Oh.’”
He further added, “I think that Benj – he does his best, when he is with someone, to adapt to what they’re into or whatever… He’s down though, he doesn’t care, he doesn’t judge. He accepts anything.”
In 2002, Brandy Norwood, then 22, announced her secret marriage with music producer Robert Smith the year before – just four months before the birth of their baby, Sy’rai.
`
The pair also faked as husband and wife on MTV series “Brandy: A Special Delivery”, which documented their daughter’s birth but after their split up in 2003, Brandy said that the wedding never took place.
Lately Brandy Norwood, 29, told the press, “I lied because of the fear of what people would think and the pressure to be a good role model. Our relationship was very real, we just weren’t legally married.”
Nothing serious at all for Gwen as compared to the fright Britney faced with Jayden James a couple of weeks earlier.
She basically took her child Zuma for a routine health and medical check up the child specialist and while on her way out the paparazzi just couldn’t themselves from clicking pictures of the adorable singer cuddling her child as they returned home.
Stefani just a couple of weeks earlier got back into the US after spending a fun and sun-filled vacation to Cabo San Lucas in Mexico, she was there with her family and members of her former band No Doubt dropped in too to baby sit her son (just kidding here).
At the same time Gwen is pretty concerned for her elder son Kingston, husband Gavin Rossdale recently told press, “He’s got a better wardrobe than I have! I can definitely see a performer in him.” But what really got him worried is that since his childhood the photogs haven’t let him off for a day. Gavin continued “He had the first nine days off of his life – after that, it’s been full- [throttle]. It’s pretty intense. Who knows what’s going to happen?”
After the very tragic deaths of three members of her family, Jennifer Hudson has finally broken her silence. Still reeling from the loss, the singer and actress has taken to her official blog to send a message to us all. She said “I want to thank each and every one of you for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. My sister and I take great comfort and strength from your love and concern.” The cops have yet to formally charge anyone for the three Hudson family murders as investigations into their person of interest are still going on.
“Lucky in love, lucky in her career” might well be the best phrase that can describe Madonna’s state of life today. Madonna is taking a much-needed rest after her successful “Sticky & Sweet” concert tour. As if this was not enough, she has inked a £6.5 million deal with Louis Vuitton.
The 50-year old queen of pop has bested younger and popular faces by being chosen as the new face of a massive advertising campaign that will be launched by Louis Vuitton. Rumors have it that the amount of her contract with LV is even higher than the contracts inked by supermodel Kate Moss.
Aside from the contract price, the LV campaign will also place Madonna’s face and image in the forefront of the advertising industry considering that Steven Meisel will do the shots for the billboards which will invade the skyline during Spring 2009.
Well, this is too much of a blessing for Madonna even if she is in the middle of ugly divorce proceedings versus Guy Ritchie who is allegedly asking for heaven and earth. Gwyneth Paltrow, who has provided the much needed support for best friend said Madonna is coping and is doing fine.
The pop star has recently given hints about her new album which is due to be out on her 27th birthday on December 2. She had this to say about it: “I can’t wait to share it with my fans. I worked with producers from some of my earliest albums – I went old school. I called it ‘Circus’ because I like the fact that you are on the edge of your seat when you are at a circus. You are never bored. You are engulfed in what is going on and you want to know what is going to happen next.” As far as I remember, her “old-school” material wasn’t really that good either. What is this, a concept album, the dark story behind her tragic existence? Oh well, I’m sure it will live up to the artist’s expectations, and if it doesn’t, it will probably live up to the marketing expectations…
