The singer-songwriter opened up to the magazine about her mistakes, lost loves and how she’s finally following her heart. Alicia admits to being a perfectionist even in her relationships saying “Yes, I definitely am. But I’m realizing it’s okay for things to not be perfect. Like even with relationships – I think we get into them, and we have these ideas of how it’s supposed to be. And when it starts not to feel right, we think we can make it right. But when it’s not right, I have to say, Something’s wrong and I have to figure out what it is so I can feel happier.”
American Idol champion David Cook has been signed to Simon Fuller’s 19 Recording/RCS Records. The Idol rocker is now preparing to record his debut album which is slated for a Fall 2008 release. The 25-year old will be recording his album over the summer while touring with the rest of the American Idol Top 10. Their tour kicks off on July 1 in Glendale, Arizona and wraps up on September 13 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Of the signing, David said “I am extremely happy to be signed by 19 Recordings / RCA Records. Signing this deal is truly a dream come true. I am looking forward to the recording process and creating a record. The support I have received from America has been overwhelming and I can’t wait to hopefully do right by them.”
Alanis Morissete wants to adopt. The 34-year-old singer says she wants to have a family before she is 40 and admits she would consider adoption.
She said: “I would definitely consider adoption, no question about it. Not today, but at some point in the future. Ideally, I’d like to be married and starting a family before I’m 40, even though I don’t believe in the concept of marriage in the conventional sense. But there is definitely virtue in committing to something and following it through.”
The ‘Ironic’ hitmaker also revealed she is dating a lawyer – but refuses to name him.
She added: “My boyfriend since last summer is a lawyer. I’ve done the high-profile relationship thing and I’m a little shy of that now. I don’t want to say who he is yet just for his sake – the poor guy’s life is going to turn around – so we want to drag it out while we are still getting to know each other.”

Just when you thought the Amy Winehouse theme for the next James Bond movie was a dead issue, the singer has announced she is back working on the project.
Winehouse told the press last week that she and producer Mark Ronson were getting their plans back on track to record the theme for ‘Quantum of Solace’. Amy says she has written the song and recorded an acoustic demo. It is up to Ronson to ‘Bondify’ the recording.
The whole thing fell in a heap a few months back when Amy reached a low in her life with drugs and jails. She is in a good place mentally at the moment and this may just be the window of opportunity Ronson needs to get the project completed.
It is also rumoured that Beyonce is having a crack at the theme.
Avril Lavigne just can’t catch a break with people hating on her left and right. Even the singer’s dancers are turning on her. One of her backup dancers has revealed just how much of an insecure mess and a diva she is to work with. Sara Von Gillern might have to look for a new job soon as she recently told the press how hard (though only implied) it is to work with Avril. Sara rocked a seriously spiky and streaked hairdo and was asked if it was for the tour. Sara revealed that “Actually, it’s a rule we all have to have dark hair, there can only be one blonde on the stage. One of the other dancers is bleach blonde but she has to wear a wig. She actually has like five different dark ones.”
Alanis Morissette attacks ex-boyfriend Ryan Reynolds on her new album. The Canadian singer has revealed various tracks on her upcoming LP ‘Flavors of Entanglement’ were inspired by her then-disintegrating relationship with the ‘Smokin’ Aces’ actor.
She said: “This album was like a life raft. I wanted my own personal story to unfold as it was happening.”
One lyric from track ‘Straightjacket’ is: “I don’t know who you are, talking to me with such f***ing disrespect.” While lines from ‘Underneath’ include: “Look at us break our bonds in this kitchen / Look at us rallying our defences / Look at us waging war in our bedroom.”
Alanis and Ryan dated between 2004 and 2007, and were engaged. Ryan is now set to marry ‘The Other Boleyn Girl’ actress Scarlett Johansson. Although she is still hurt by the split, the ‘Ironic’ singer believes the experience has made her a better artist.
She added: “That’s what I keep coming back to. What you’re writing is who you are, what you really want to be doing. That’s all that matters.”
The brand new ‘Spotlight’ cover for the debut single from Jennifer Hudson’s upcoming album ‘Spotlight’ has been released. The song was written and co-produced by hit maker and R&B sensation Ne-Yo. The single will hit the radio airwaves on June 9 and will be digitally available at iTunes on June 10. While the song doesn’t really showcase Jennifer’s amazing vocal range which made her such a hit on American Idol and the movie ‘Dreamgirls’, it’s a pretty radio friendly song which should still make it somewhat of a hit. She has that ‘Sex & the City’ song to back her career up in case ‘Spotlight’ doesn’t do well anyway.
American Idol contestant David Cook proved that love can definitely move mountains. According to TV’s Extra, the hopeful’s sick brother was in the audience for last night’s final performance show and will also be at tonight’s finale. Adam Cook, who is fighting brain cancer, reportedly flew in to LA on Monday morning accompanied by a medical nurse. Due to his battle with cancer, it was unexpected and highly unlikely that he would be able to make the finale shows. But there he was. If love was the measure of who wins the title of American Idol, hands down, it has to go to David Cook.
The original American Idol, Kelly Clarkson, was spotted leaving Koi restaurant in Los Angeles on Thursday with a huge smile on her face. After dinner, Kelly’s friends apparently didn’t like the attention and tried to block shots from the photographers, all while getting a good laugh. But if you really want to catch a glimpse of the singer, catch her and Reba McEntire on their ‘2 Worlds 2 Voices’ tour which kicks off on September 25 and runs through November. It’s a unique tour in a sense that the two artists will be on the same stage with the same band performing each other’s songs.

Pete Doherty has bought three new cats. The latest additions to the rocker’s family of felines has brought his total to 10.
The Babyshambles frontman has also reportedly purchased several pregnant mice for his pets to feed on. It is thought Pete, 29, is letting the rodents roam around his London home for the cats to catch. Nice.
Earlier this week, Pete revealed he realised his drug use was spiralling out of control after he attacked one of his beloved pets while high. He said: “I got a shovel and was going to kill one of the cats. It was a bit of a crazy time.”

American Idol David Archuleta’s dad Jeff showed up in the audience for Tuesday night’s performance show and he’s made it clear that he’s pissed at the producers for banning him from being backstage or anywhere near the other contestants. Sources say that Jeff kept shooting daggers at Executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe all throughout the show and even stared Nigel down when he saw him visibly excited as David Cook performed. Jeff was friendly with Randy and Paula but had no interaction at all with Simon. Additionally, Jeff was trying to get the attention of songwriter Diane Warren but she didn’t give a crap to give him the time of day.
Maroon 5 has teamed up with Rihanna to re-release the band’s single ‘If I Never See Your Face Again’. Just this past Tuesday, the collaborators also released a video for their new duet which was shot in Los Angeles by Anthony Mandler. And just as I thought, Rihanna has kicked it up another notch when it comes to how hot she can get in her videos. The video is a hotness overload as you have both Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine on one hand and the hot Barbadian babe on the other. Adam is hot. Rihanna is hotter. This video? The hottest ever!
Madonna’s alleged diva behaviour sparked outrage at a concert this weekend.
The music superstar annoyed organisers and fellow artists on the bill at Radio 1’s Big Weekend free music event, after demanding a helicopter to transport her from her London home to the festival in Maidstone, Kent – just 37 miles away. When she finally arrived for her 20-minute set on Saturday, she issued a string of demands for her 70-strong entourage.
A source revealed: ‘She had special Kabbalah water shipped in and demanded bouquets of white roses. While she only ate fresh fruit, the same can’t be said of her friends. They arrived early and wolfed down free food and alcohol reserved for all the artists.’
The ‘4 Minutes’ singer also reportedly angered other performers by turning up late for rehearsals, leaving the schedules in disarray.
Madonna’s four-letter tirade during the live BBC broadcast caused a headache for the TV and radio bosses. Introducing ‘Hung Up’, Madonna said: ‘You guys are going to have to stop f***ing it up out there because I need to feel some love. I’m going to do an old song, but not too old. F**k the present. Let’s live in the past.’
Hosts Zane Lowe and Edith Bowman were forced to issue a hasty apology after the set, saying: ‘An incredible performance from Madonna. That said, a quick apology for those people who might have felt the content offensive.’

Mariah Carey has been seen flashing her giant rock around since before she got married but now that the deed is done, it’s Nick Cannon’s turn to flash his blinged out wedding ring as he left his hotel in New York City on Thursday. The 27-year old small screen actor and rapper married the 38-year old curvaceous diva in an April 30 sunset ceremony at her (now his as well) Bahamian estate. I wonder if his ring was worn by anyone else before him. It would only be fair. I mean, he gave Mariah a ring which he previously gave to his ex-fiance.
It is being reported that three new Oasis tracks have started making the rounds on message boards and fan sites all throughout the day on Wednesday. The three tracks are ‘I Wanna Live a Dream (In My Record Machine)’, ‘Nothin’ on Me’ and ‘Stop the Clocks’. However, as the day went on, several previously working links went dead. It appears that steps were taken to remove the demos. Weren’t they planning on releasing their album for free? If the plans haven’t changed, why bother to kill the links? It’s not like it’s going to affect anything especially if plans do pull through that they are giving away their music.

Jason Castro is the latest American Idol castoff and while his performance was really deserving of the boot, he may have also put the nail in his coffin himself. A source on the Ellen DeGeneres Show says that producers slowed down the tape of American Idol where Ryan Seacrest is reading the phone numbers to call to vote for Jason when the contestant mouths what looks like ‘don’t vote’. Some may think he was saying ‘vote, vote’ or ‘go vote’ but it really looks like he sent out a silent plea to get the boot which he eventually got on Wednesday.
If you’re still waiting for empirical proof that Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are married, well here it is. The latest issue of People magazine has the exclusive wedding pictures of the couple. The 38-year old singer married the 27-year old small screen actor during sunset of April 30 at her Bahamian estate. Both Mariah and Nick are quoted in the magazine. Mariah says “We really do feel we are soulmates. I never felt a love like this was in the cards for me.” To that, Nick adds “She is beautiful on the outside and 10 times as beautiful on the inside.”
