Geri Halliwell: Ivan new man
Geri Halliwell has pulled off the oldest trick in the pop songbook. She is dating a dancer called Ivan “Flipz” Velez, who worked on the Spice Girls’ tour.
The breakdancer taught Cruz Beckham his incredible body-popping skills during the tour. And he got up close and personal with Geri during their steamy on-stage dance routines. Flipz — as he’s known by any friends he’s managed to hang on to after going by such a ridiculous name — lifted Geri in the air when she sang It’s Raining Men.
And a pal revealed: “Geri and Ivan met on the tour and were working very closely together. Towards the end, it began to heat up and turn into a something more. She found she missed him after the tour ended in February, so she flew out to Los Angeles to be with him. He’s great with her daughter Bluebell. She was with Geri on tour so he is already familiar to her. And he’s very popular in the Spice Girls camp. It was Flipz who was teaching the Beckham kids all their breakdancing skills. It’s early days but they’re having a lot of fun.”
Pop stars dating dancers is almost as common as footballers dating women with orange skin.
Geri’s bandmate Mel B married dancer Jimmy Gulzar in 1998 but they split 14 months later.
Britney Spears didn’t do much better. She wed her dancer Keven Federline in 2004 and their marriage lasted less than three years.
Jennifer Lopez and Cris Judd divorced almost as quickly as they married.
Geri herself dated another Spice Girls dancer, Christian Storm, until they split. He married All Saint Shaznay Lewis.
Gary Barlow is a rare success story. He married Take That backing dancer Dawn in 2000 and they are still together.
Geri’s latest failed romance was with David Williams— and a dancer called Flipz is another intriguing choice.
