American Idol’s Downfall

⊆ May 8th, 2008 by Cindy | ˜ No Comments »

Jason Castro is the latest American Idol castoff and while his performance was really deserving of the boot, he may have also put the nail in his coffin himself. A source on the Ellen DeGeneres Show says that producers slowed down the tape of American Idol where Ryan Seacrest is reading the phone numbers to call to vote for Jason when the contestant mouths what looks like ‘don’t vote’. Some may think he was saying ‘vote, vote’ or ‘go vote’ but it really looks like he sent out a silent plea to get the boot which he eventually got on Wednesday.

Mariah Carey Speaks

⊆ May 8th, 2008 by Cindy | ˜ No Comments »

If you’re still waiting for empirical proof that Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are married, well here it is. The latest issue of People magazine has the exclusive wedding pictures of the couple. The 38-year old singer married the 27-year old small screen actor during sunset of April 30 at her Bahamian estate. Both Mariah and Nick are quoted in the magazine. Mariah says “We really do feel we are soulmates. I never felt a love like this was in the cards for me.” To that, Nick adds “She is beautiful on the outside and 10 times as beautiful on the inside.”

Kanye Defends the Diva

⊆ May 6th, 2008 by Cindy | ˜ No Comments »

Kanye West takes to his blog a lot when it comes to diva moments doesn’t he? The rapper recently wrote about walking offstage at his Houston concert on Friday night. He says “HOUSTON I LOVE YOU! Don’t believe the hype! When I started the show the other night we were having a lot of technical issues due 2 the heat. The 2 huge screens on both sides of the stage were glaring bright blue like when your DVD player acts up at home. I asked for them 2 turn the screens off 3 times because it was distracting 2 the show… I admit, in my frustration, I did use profanity on the 4th time I asked. I stopped the show 2 go over and check it out myself. After the screens were turned off I started the same song from the beginning…” Read on if you want to see his sort of apology for his rant about Entertainment Weekly.

Lil’ Kim’s car repossessed

⊆ May 5th, 2008 by Cindy | ˜ No Comments »

Lil’ Kim’s car has been repossessed - but the rapper insists it isn’t her fault.

The singer’s silver Bentley was seized after she fell four months behind on repayments. However, Kim - real name Kimberly Jones - says the situation was a “misunderstanding” as the car had been given to her as a gift.

A spokesperson for the star said she had been given the Bentley four years ago, adding: “This matter is currently being resolved and is completely out of Kim’s hands.”

The incident was caught on camera by New York TV station WPIX-TV, who were filming a news piece on avoiding repossession at the time. When they asked Kim for a response to the repossession, she said: “Oh please, get the f**k out of here. You are so f***ing ridiculous.”

Madonna Performs at Roseland

⊆ May 3rd, 2008 by Cindy | ˜ No Comments »

Madonna and Justin Timberlake struck a pose backstage after performing together at Roseland Ballroom in New York City on Wednesday night. The collaborative duo performed in celebration of the release of the Queen of Pop’s new album ‘Hard Candy’. Madonna performed a 38-minute six-song set which included the tracks ‘Hard Candy’, ‘Miles Away’, ‘4 Minutes (To Save the World)’, ‘Hung Up’, ‘Give it to Me’ and ‘Music’. She was very much into performing and getting the crowd to party hard with her by yelling “Give it to me, New York. I don’t see you people dancing up and down enough.”

Fergie gets thumbs up

Fergie will be a ‘cool’ wife, according to her bandmate.

Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am says Fergie - who is engaged to ‘Las Vegas’ star Josh Duhamel - will make a perfect partner for the actor. He said: “Fergie will be the coolest wife you could have. She’s Fergie-Ferg, she’s just cool!”

Will.i.am says he couldn’t be happier for the couple, who got engaged last December. He said: “They are perfect for each other. She brings out the best in him and he brings the best out of her. Josh is super-duper cool - one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met.” The ‘Heartbreaker’ singer also revealed he has already planned his wedding present to the couple.

He added: “I got a wedding gift for her and Josh - some new beats, so she can sing over them!”

Although the singer doesn’t know when the wedding between his “little sister” and Josh will take place, he insists he wouldn’t miss it for the world.

Fergie and actor Josh started dating in September 2004 after the Black Eyed Peas made an appearance in an episode of his hit US TV show.

Geri Halliwell’s solo career over

⊆ April 29th, 2008 by Cindy | ˜ No Comments »

Geri Halliwell has ruled out becoming a solo artist again - because she wants to concentrate on being an author.

Geri Halliwell says her career as a solo artist is over. The star insists she won’t be releasing anymore records on her own now the Spice Girls reunion tour is over, because she wants to concentrate on being an author.

Geri - who is about to release her first children’s book, ‘Eugenia Lavender’ - said: “I feel like I’ve hung up my hot pants now. I’ll always try and be honest about myself. I’ve finished as a solo artist. Right now I just feel really comfortable writing books.”

The 34-year-old - also known as Ginger Spice - believes the Spice Girls recent reunion has brought the girls closer together.

Geri - who was joined on the road by Victoria Beckham, Mel C, Emma Bunton and Mel B - added: “I feel we are just like a family. We clicked again straight away - it’s just like a family travelling in a bubble. I really enjoy our relationships. But I always wish I had left the group under better circumstances, rather than just walking out. But that’s exactly why I wanted to do it again.”

David Bowie´s daughter has Hilary Duff music

David Bowie´s daughter would much rather bop around to Hilary Duff than dance androgynously to glam rock tracks like David’s classic Starman.

But then again, she is only seven.

The Ziggy Stardust singer is far from happy with Alexandria’s musical tastes - and refuses to stay in the room when she listens to her pop CDs.

David’s supermodel wife Iman said he has tried to educate their little girl down ulterior musical paths, but she refuses to listen.

Iman said: “Two weeks ago Alexandria was listening to Hilary Duff songs. David just leaves the room. He thinks she should be listening to underground music.”

Bittersweet Debut for Ashlee Simpson

⊆ April 25th, 2008 by Cindy | ˜ No Comments »

It’s a good thing that Ashlee Simpson can keep herself busy with planning a wedding and having a baby with Pete Wentz because her music career isn’t going to be going anywhere anytime soon. Ashlee’s new CD ‘Bittersweet World’ was released on Tuesday and is only projected to sell around 50,000 – 55,000 in its first week. Her last CD ‘I Am Me’ opened to 220,000 on its first week in 2005. Her debut album ‘Autobiography’ sold 398,000 on its first week. Apparently, we’re gradually losing love for her. She’s a sweet girl, maybe a liar, but a sweet girl nonetheless. It sucks for her and it’s very disappointing.

Kylie Minogue can’t wait to hit the road

⊆ April 23rd, 2008 by Cindy | ˜ No Comments »

Kylie Minogue is counting down the days until her world tour starts.

The ‘Wow’ singer - whose ‘KylieX2008′ tour kicks off in Paris, France, on May 6 - can’t wait to get back on the road and has promised a stunning show.

She said: “The countdown has begun!! Not long now before opening night for ‘KylieX2008′!!!! “My cast, crew and I have been working hard to really make this show ’spectacular’ for you. Full production rehearsals are coming up and we are very excited to merge all the various elements of the show.”

The 39-year-old beauty admits she has been working so hard rehearsing for the tour, she was relieved to have a break while filming her latest video ‘All I See’.

She wrote: “I hope you liked the little ‘All I See’ video we did especially for you! I managed to squeeze in three hours filming at the end of a long day’s shooting for the show. And, as I always say.’When in doubt, apply more glitter!’ Girls can’t get enough of a glitter drop! As all my time seems to be taken up with elaborate and difficult rehearsals it was fun to do something simple and spontaneous. Back to the studio now and I will check in with you again before May 6th!”

Stroking Kanye West’s Ego

⊆ April 21st, 2008 by Cindy | ˜ No Comments »

The Seattle Times recently gave an excellent review of Kanye West’s newly launched ‘Glow in the Dark’ tour. Now, the LA Times is following suit by stroking the rapper’s ego some more. Who needs awards when you have reviews like this? Esteemed critic Anne Powers reviewed Kanye’s concert saying “An apocalyptic space opera…a show that carried his braggadocio into the realm of myth itself…This was pure comic-book adventure…But the real message came through those unstoppable images. Glow in the Dark raises the bar for arena tours as no show has since U2’s 1992 Zoo TV breakthrough. It’s that innovative and galvanizing…the ridiculous, beautiful heights of West’s heroics.” He was compared to U2! You can’t beat that.

Allergic to Mariah Carey

⊆ April 18th, 2008 by Cindy | ˜ No Comments »

Are we becoming allergic to Mariah Carey? Tuesday night’s Mariah-themed episode of American Idol was the lowest rated Tuesday airing of the show in a month. On March 25’s show, Idol ratings were at 14.3/22. On April 1, the ratings were at 14.9/23. On April 8, the ratings were at 14.4/22. But on April 15, when Mariah showed up, the ratings were at 14.1/22. Additionally, Mariah’s much hyped appearance on Oprah on Monday underperformed big time! The show she was a guest on got beat in the ratings for the shows featuring the pregnant man, Jenny McCarthy and Jamie Lee Curtis. Ouch!

American Idol Top 7

⊆ April 18th, 2008 by Cindy | ˜ No Comments »

Who would have thought that in a week with Mariah Carey songs as the theme for American Idol that the guys would win over the girls? They won by a mile! It’s no surprise that most contestants took on ballads but David Cook was one to go against the pack and did a huge pop hit with ‘Always Be My Baby’. And if you ask me, it was a much better version than Mariah’s! It was so much more emotional. Anyway, David Archuleta and Jason Castro sang great with ‘When You Believe’ and ‘I Don’t Want to Cry’ respectively while the Carly Smithson, Syesha Mercado, Brooke White and Kristy Lee Cook did so-so with ‘Without You’, ‘Vanishing’, ‘Hero’ and ‘Forever’.

Fergie is a Latina

Fergie is a Latina

Who would have thought that Fergie is a Latina? Or at least part Latina. The Black Eyed Peas singer told Latina magazine that “Yes, I have Mexican in my ancestry. My Dad’s grandmother was born in Guanajuato. I’m very proud of it; that’s probably where I get my fire!” She was also asked why her Latina background has been ambiguous to which she replies “I don’t go around claiming it big time because there are many more full-bred Latinas that are out there to represent.” The not-so-proud Latina that is Jessica Alba should take down some notes from Fergie. Be proud of where your family comes from!

Rihanna Back in the Studio

Rihanna

Rihanna was spotted after eating lunch at ‘Chin Chin’ restaurant with an assistant and her little dog Oliver on Friday in Los Angeles. The singer of the hit song ‘Umbrella’ then headed over to the nearest Starbucks for an iced tea fix and then went off to a recording studio in Burbank. I guess she’s off trying to recreate the magic on a new album. But this is Rihanna we’re talking about. Even if she doesn’t try as hard, she’ll still be a hit. She’s the queen! It’s her sound that’s in with the crowd these days that you hardly even heard the name Beyonce in the music scene. And that’s also why Beyonce’s said to be moving towards Rihanna’s sound on her next album.

Bryan Adams and Wal-Mart

Bryan Adams and Wal-Mart

Canadian rocker Bryan Adams is teaming up with Wal-Mart for his next album release. The musician’s eleventh album, aptly titled ‘11’ will be released in the United States on May 13th exclusively via Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club stores. Congrats to Bryan as his publicity stunt is working. His last album only sold 44,000 in the US. But with Wal-Mart on his side, it may go up – even if just a little. They were probably the only people who wanted to release a Bryan Adams album after his last disaster anyway. But hey, if the Eagles album is anything to go by…

The Latest American Idol Castoff

⊆ April 14th, 2008 by Cindy | ˜ No Comments »

After the American Idol special ‘Idol Gives Back’ last year, none of the Idol wannabes got cast off. So it was pretty good to assume that the same was going to happen this time around right? Wrong! Syesha Mercado, Carly Smithson and Michael Johns all got called to be in the bottom three with Michael Johns ultimately getting the ax. For those that caught the elimination show, how many of you thought that host Ryan Seacrest was being such a big ass about the elimination? In other news, ‘Idol Gives Back’ donations have so far reached the $60+ million mark at the show’s airing.

Amy Winehouse to record? No…No…No

⊆ April 12th, 2008 by Cindy | ˜ No Comments »

Amy Winehouse has cancelled plans to begin recording her third album – leaving industry chiefs fearing there will be no new LP from her this year.

Island Records booked the singer a trip to the Bahamas to begin her follow-up to smash hit Back To Black with producer Saleem Remi.

The no-expense spared venture last month was going to be Amy’s first attempt to start laying down an album for almost two years. But she pulled the plug on the trip at the last minute.

I suppose she’s not a girl you can rush, unless you dangle some of her beloved fizzy sherbet in front of her.

A pal revealed: “Island wanted to get her away from it all and thought it would be great surroundings for her. It was a very expensive trip and it was hoped they would make some decent progress recording the album. But Amy pulled out at the last minute. The album was planned for late 2008, but her label is now privately admitting it’s unlikely to happen until 2009. She’s not the kind of artist you can just stick in the studio for a month and get an album done. And I now think early 2009 would be a good result.”

And there might be another thing holding up progress. Wino has managed to find herself another addiction – ironing.

She’s been going flat out at her new obsession and ironing everything she can get her hands on in her home in Camden, North London.

A pal revealed: “She has become absolutely obsessed with ironing things. Not just her clothes but also towels, sheets, scarves. Anything really. She’s a very obsessive person and has always been addicted to something. We’ve had cannabis, cocaine, crack, heroin and her husband Blake Fielder-Civil. All the others have been rather more destructive, apart from knitting, which she has also had an on/off love affair with. But ironing is definitely her new favourite.”

Now all she needs is to develop an addiction to recording to keep her bosses happy.  And an addiction to washing the clothes first wouldn’t hurt.

Madonna the ‘geek’

⊆ April 11th, 2008 by Cindy | ˜ No Comments »

Madonna claims she was a ‘geek’ when she began her career.

The ‘4 Minutes’ singer – who was known for her raunchy image when she hit the music scene in the early 80s – insists people had the wrong idea about her and she was well-behaved.

She said: ‘I really was not getting up to much. I don’t think I was as naughty as I could have been. I was quite straight. I was a geek when I was that age. I did not really do that much that was interesting.’

The mother-of-three also says one of her earliest hits ‘Like A Virgin’ had an innocence surrounding it. She said: ‘There is a kind of simplicity about it. There is an innocence about it. When I look at the video I also see a girl who is innocent and wide-eyed and really excited about her life and the beginning of her career.’

In 1992, Madonna released her controversial book ‘Sex’, in which she posed in a series of X-rated photographs, and admits she has never been able to put the erotic tome behind her.

The singer, who turns 50 later this year, added: ‘I hope that’s not the only thing that I’m identified with – taking my clothes off. I have done other things. There’s a lot more to Madonna than taking your clothes off.’

More Free Avril

avril-lavigne.jpg

It’s discount after discount after discount. Is anyone still making money over this tour? A lot of promoters are having such a hard time selling tickets to Avril Lavigne’s tour that The Mohegan Sun is actually giving them away. If they’re having that much of a hard time at it and losing money either way, why don’t they just put an end to the tour? It would probably save them even more money. It’s not like the discounts or the freebies put a considerable amount of people in the seats to watch Avril anyway. I’m sure refunding those who already bought tickets wouldn’t put a dent in their wallets either.

Geri Halliwell: Ivan new man

⊆ April 5th, 2008 by Cindy | ˜ No Comments »

geri-halliwell.jpg

Geri Halliwell has pulled off the oldest trick in the pop songbook. She is dating a dancer called Ivan “Flipz” Velez, who worked on the Spice Girls’ tour.

The breakdancer taught Cruz Beckham his incredible body-popping skills during the tour. And he got up close and personal with Geri during their steamy on-stage dance routines. Flipz — as he’s known by any friends he’s managed to hang on to after going by such a ridiculous name — lifted Geri in the air when she sang It’s Raining Men.

And a pal revealed: “Geri and Ivan met on the tour and were working very closely together. Towards the end, it began to heat up and turn into a something more. She found she missed him after the tour ended in February, so she flew out to Los Angeles to be with him. He’s great with her daughter Bluebell. She was with Geri on tour so he is already familiar to her. And he’s very popular in the Spice Girls camp. It was Flipz who was teaching the Beckham kids all their breakdancing skills. It’s early days but they’re having a lot of fun.”

Pop stars dating dancers is almost as common as footballers dating women with orange skin.

Geri’s bandmate Mel B married dancer Jimmy Gulzar in 1998 but they split 14 months later.

Britney Spears didn’t do much better. She wed her dancer Keven Federline in 2004 and their marriage lasted less than three years.

Jennifer Lopez and Cris Judd divorced almost as quickly as they married.

Geri herself dated another Spice Girls dancer, Christian Storm, until they split. He married All Saint Shaznay Lewis.

Gary Barlow is a rare success story. He married Take That backing dancer Dawn in 2000 and they are still together.

Geri’s latest failed romance was
